For a very long time, Kyazanga area was lacking a good modern Primary School. Good schools are far away like in Masaka town and many times are very expensive. This has resulted in a number of early school drop-outs at a tender age.

Kyazanga Day and Boarding Modern Primary School is an incoming project. Although the managing director was having this idea in his mind for a very long time, the real construction of the school began on 1st October, 1997.

After constructing blocks for the Nursery and primary one classes/sections, the school was officially opened on 9th February 1998 with 92 pupils.

However, building is still going on since the aim is to put up a primary seven standard day and boarding school.

AIM:

The main aim of starting this project in this rural area was to educate all school going children in the area with a high standard education at fair school fees.

In future, the Director aims at introducing a clinic at school hence improved health, in the area, clean water, and electricity hence improved standards of living in the community.

OBJECTIVES:

If this project succeeds Kyazanga community will be able to:-

(a) Send all their school going children to school.
(b) Receive health services near i.e at the school.
(c) To tap electricity and install in their homes and businesses
(d) Use clean and treated water in their homes-hence elimination of numerous water borne diseases.
(e) Reduce school drop-outs in the area tremendously
(f) Identify more business in the area since utilities will be available – hence improved family incomes.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

1. Infrastructure (Buildings)

There is a need for construction of the following:-

a. More streams – primary one up to primary seven each stream holding a capacity of 45 students.
b. The administration block with a staff room, Headmistress’s Office, Secretary and Bursars Office.
c. Two dormitory blocks. One for boys and one for girls both with a matrons annex, and each with a holding capicity of 200 students.
d. A small emergency Clinic for first aid purposes with 10 admission beds and two Nurses rooms.
e. An Orphanage
f. A school latrine.
g. A bore hole
h. Installation of electricity

REASONS FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT

If finances are available, the project will succeed because of the following reason:-
a. The pupils are available in the area and if the standard is improved, more students will be received from other areas due to the fair school fees.
b. The teachers are many, available and qualified.
c. Land is available for extension.

CONCLUSION:

In the long run, there will be need for a modern secondary school and technical school to take up those students from primary school.
